You take the theory test at a traffic police station. You must book an appointment online in advance. Before you can take the theory test, you must apply for a driver's license.

Age:
You can take the theory test at the earliest 6 months before you meet the age requirement for the class you want a driver's license for. The exception is mopeds and snowmobiles, where you must meet the age requirement since the theory test is the final test.

Adapted theory test:
You can apply for a modified theory test if you have difficulty reading and understanding the questions. Modified theory tests are conducted with an examiner present. The examiner can help you understand what is written in the test.

Did you fail the theory test?
If you fail the theory test, you must wait 2 weeks before you can take a new test. You will be informed of the topics you answered incorrectly, but not the specific questions. When you attend the new test, you must show valid identification and pay for the theory test again.

You take the exit at a traffic station.

What the test includes:

You drive 55-60 minutes under varied road and traffic conditions.
The route you drive is determined in advance. A computer draws which route you get.
You will be given a safety check task before the ride.
The way you prepare yourself and your car before driving, and the way you park your car, is also part of the test.

The security check:

You will be asked to check, for example, lights, brakes or warning lights. In addition, you must explain what could be the cause or effect if something is wrong.

Tasks you get while driving:

You will be informed well in advance where you will be driving, and you will mostly be asked to drive to named places that you will find signs to. You may be asked to turn around, park and back up.

The assessment that the examiner makes:

The examiner assesses whether you have achieved the goals well enough to continue training on your own.
Emphasis is placed on having good car maintenance and being able to drive comfortably and economically.
At the same time, you must be able to pay attention to the road and traffic conditions around you.
The driving style must be clear and safe and provide good traffic flow.
You must drive with foresight, take into account the needs of others and plan for interaction with other road users.
